New York School

Hello! My name is Mauren Turcatel, I was born and raised in Cascavel and studied at New York School from 1997 to 2000, when I finished the course and got the First Certificate in English from Cambridge University. When I started, I couldn’t imagine how important it would be having English as a second language. It helped me a lot during high school, college (I graduated in Biological Sciences at Universidade Federal do Paraná) and Master’s Degree (in Entomology, also at UFPR); after my Master’s defense I published my dissertation in an international scientific journal – I described two new species of horse-flies! In 2010 I took the TOEFL test because I was applying for PhD at North Carolina State University, where I’m starting my second year now. When I got here in Raleigh I surely learned a lot, but I felt really comfortable talking to native English speakers – and sometimes my English was praised, which made me really happy! So, I’m really thankful to New York School, I had a great time studying there, with highly qualified teachers and excellent courseware materials… and of course, a lot of fun with my classmates!
